Stamp Maker Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
A clear explanation of how Stamp Maker handles your documents, designs, device data, advertising, and privacy choices.
This Privacy Policy explains how Stamp Maker (the "App") handles information when you use it on Android. The App is published on Google Play by Tigar App Studio ("we", "us", "our"). We are the data controller for the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In short: the stamps, signatures, documents, images and settings you create or open stay on your device. Your handwritten signatures and the documents you sign are not uploaded to servers operated by us. We do not run our own content-storage servers, require an account, or sell your personal data to data brokers. The App is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. You can remove ads with an optional purchase or subscription through Google Play; we never see your payment details. Where the law requires it, for example in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before ads are personalised.
1. Information stored only on your device
The App works offline for its core features. The built-in stamp templates and logos are included in the App; the extra templates and logos in the stamp library are a one-time download from Google Play (see section 3). The following is created by you and stored locally on your device. We never receive it:
- Stamp projects and designs: project names, text, shapes, colours, layers and layout, kept in a local database.
- Images you choose: photos you pick from your gallery or take with the camera (for example, to scan a stamp or add a watermark). They are processed entirely on your device.
- Signatures and initials: signatures you draw with your finger, type, or import from a photo are saved as image files (transparent PNG) in the App's private storage. They are used only to place on documents or stamps you choose.
- Documents you sign: PDFs and images you open from your files or gallery, or photograph with the camera, are read on your device so you can add signatures, initials, stamps, dates, text and tick or cross marks. The original file is never changed: a new signed copy is saved where you choose.
- "Recently signed" list: for up to 30 recently signed documents, the App keeps the file name, file type, save location and time so you can reopen them. You can remove any entry from the list.
- Exported files: stamps, signatures, signed documents and watermarked images you export are saved to your device storage (for example Pictures/StampMaker or Downloads/StampMaker) or gallery.
- Temporary files: photos taken with the camera for scanning or signing are kept briefly in the App's cache while you work on them. Android may clear the cache at any time.
- Downloaded stamp library: the extra stamp templates and logos downloaded from Google Play are stored in the App's private storage, together with small preview images in the App's cache. Logos you add to a design are copied into the App's private storage as images.
- Premium status: whether you have Premium (lifetime or subscription), saved so ads stay off when you open the App. It is checked again with Google Play each time you open the App.
- App preferences: your language, theme, default colour, export resolution, watermark settings and whether you have finished onboarding.
We do not use any of this content for advertising, and it is not shared with the advertising or configuration services described in section 3.
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may include your stamp projects, the pictures and scanned stamps used in them, and your settings in your device backup to Google Drive or when you transfer data to a new phone. Your saved signatures and your "Recently signed" list are excluded from backups and device transfers and never leave your device. That backup is handled by Google under Google's Privacy Policy. You can turn backup off in your device settings.
2. Device permissions
| Permission | Why the App uses it | When |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | To take a photo of a physical stamp so it can be scanned into a digital stamp. | Only when you tap the camera option. Optional. |
| Camera (signing) | To photograph a paper document so you can straighten and sign it. | Only when you choose Take a photo of paper. Optional. |
| Photo picker and file picker (no permission needed) | To let you choose a photo or PDF for scanning, watermarking, signing, importing a signature or adding to a design. The App only gets access to the files you pick. | Only when you choose a file. |
| Fingerprint, face or screen lock (optional) | To unlock your saved signatures if you turn on Lock signatures. Verification is done by Android. The App never receives or stores your fingerprint, face data or PIN. | Only if you turn the lock on. |
| Storage write (Android 9 and below only) | To save exported stamps and images to your device. | Only when you export. |
| Internet / network state | To load ads and ad settings, show the consent form, download fonts and download the extra stamp templates and logos from Google Play. | While the App is running. |
| Google Play billing | To let you buy Premium (ad removal) and to check whether you own it. Payment is handled by Google Play. | When you open the Premium screen, buy or restore Premium, and when the App opens. |
| Foreground service (data sync) and wake lock | Added by Google Play's asset delivery library so the stamp library download can finish and be unpacked without being interrupted. No personal data is involved. | Only while the stamp library is downloading. |
You can deny or revoke any permission in Android Settings. The rest of the App keeps working without it.
3. Third-party services and the data they collect
The App includes the following Google services. They may collect information directly from your device under their own privacy policies:
Google AdMob (advertising)
We show banner, interstitial (full-screen) and native ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, AdMob may collect:
- Device identifiers, such as the Android Advertising ID (where available) and app-set ID
- IP address, from which approximate (coarse) location may be inferred
- Device and app information, such as model, operating system, language and app version
- Ad interactions, such as impressions and clicks, plus diagnostic and performance data
Learn more: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services · Google Privacy Policy.
Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
We use Google's UMP SDK to show a consent message to users in regions where consent is required, and to store your choice on your device. See section 4.
Firebase Remote Config (Google)
We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust app settings remotely, such as where and how often ads appear. It uses a Firebase installation ID and basic device and app information. It is not used to identify you personally. Learn more: Privacy and Security in Firebase.
Google Fonts (via Google Play services)
Some fonts used in the App, including the handwriting styles for typed signatures, are downloaded on demand through Google Play services. This request contains only the font name. Like any internet request, Google receives your IP address. The text you type is never sent. Learn more: Google Fonts privacy FAQ.
Google Play (stamp library download)
The extra stamp templates and logos are delivered by Google Play through Play Asset Delivery. The download starts automatically the first time you open the stamp templates or the logo library, and you can cancel it there. On mobile data, Google Play may ask for your confirmation first. To deliver the files, the Google Play Store app receives the request together with basic device and app information (such as device model, Android version, app version and which content packs are installed) and your IP address. This is handled by Google under the Google Play Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. No stamp designs, signatures, documents or photos are sent.
Google Play Billing (Premium purchases)
If you buy Premium (a one-time lifetime purchase or a subscription that removes ads), the purchase is made and processed entirely by Google Play. Google collects and processes your payment details, billing address and transaction history under the Google Payments Privacy Notice and the Google Privacy Policy. We never receive your card number or other payment details.
Through the Google Play Billing Library, the App receives only what is needed to unlock Premium: the product you bought, the purchase status, the purchase time, an order ID and a purchase token, and for subscriptions whether it renews automatically. These details are used on your device to turn ads off and to confirm (acknowledge) the purchase with Google Play. They are not sent to us and not combined with advertising data. We can see anonymous order records in the Google Play Console (for example order ID, product, price, country and date) as needed for accounting, tax and refund handling.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, social login or user accounts. We do not request your name, email address, contacts or precise location through the App, we never receive your payment card details, and we never receive your signatures, documents or photos.
4. Advertising consent (GDPR, Google UMP)
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, the App shows a consent message from Google's User Messaging Platform when you first open it. This message is certified under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. Through it you can:
- Consent to personalised ads, which use your data to show ads relevant to you
- Decline personalised ads. You may still see non-personalised or limited ads, which use limited data such as coarse location and the app you are in.
- Manage your choices per purpose and per advertising partner
No ads are requested until the consent flow has finished. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy Options. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.
Wherever you are, you can also reset or delete your Android Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads depending on your device).
5. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Personalised advertising and storing or accessing information on your device for ads | Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and the ePrivacy rules), collected through the UMP consent message |
| Non-personalised ads, ad measurement and fraud prevention | Our legitimate interest in funding a free app and keeping ads secure (Art. 6(1)(f)), or consent where the law requires it |
| Delivering the downloadable stamp library through Google Play | Legitimate interest in providing the App's content efficiently (Art. 6(1)(f)), and performance of the service you use (Art. 6(1)(b)) |
| Processing Premium purchases and subscriptions, and turning ads off for Premium users | Performance of a contract with you (Art. 6(1)(b)), and legal obligation for keeping order records for tax and accounting (Art. 6(1)(c)) |
| Remote configuration of app settings | Legitimate interest in operating and improving the App (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Answering your emails | Legitimate interest in providing support, or steps taken at your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)) |
6. How information is shared
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- Information is shared with Google, as described in section 3, only so the services in the App can work. Google acts as an independent controller for advertising.
- When you choose to share an exported stamp, signature or signed document through the Android share sheet, or open it in another app, it goes to the app you pick. That app's privacy policy then applies.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request.
7. International data transfers
Google may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Google relies on approved transfer mechanisms, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect data transferred out of the EEA, UK and Switzerland.
8. Data retention and deletion
- Data on your device is kept until you delete it in the App (for example, by deleting a project or a saved signature, or removing a document from the "Recently signed" list), clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. Exported files stay in your gallery until you delete them. The downloaded stamp library stays on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App.
- Your Premium status is stored on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Your purchase itself stays linked to your Google account, so you can restore it. Order records in the Google Play Console are kept as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Your consent choice is stored on your device until you change it or uninstall the App.
- Data collected by Google services is kept under Google's retention policies. See How Google retains data.
- Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you, and in any case no longer than 12 months.
The App does not require an account and we do not operate servers that store your stamp projects, signatures or signed documents. You can delete locally stored projects and signatures in the App, clear the App’s data or uninstall the App. Uninstalling generally removes the App’s private local files, but exported documents and images in shared storage may remain until you delete them. Some device backups may retain app data until managed through your Android or Google account backup settings. Google may independently retain information collected through its services under its own retention policies. If you want us to delete support emails we hold, contact us below; legal recordkeeping obligations may require retention of certain purchase-related records.
9. Security
Your designs, signatures and images are stored in the App's private storage on your device, protected by Android's app sandbox. Other apps cannot read them. You can also turn on Lock signatures, which asks for your fingerprint, face or screen lock before the Signature screen shows your signatures. This lock controls access in the App; it does not encrypt the files. For the best protection, use a screen lock on your device. Signed documents and exported files that you save to shared storage (such as Downloads or Pictures) can be seen by other apps you have given access to your files. Data sent by the Google SDKs is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable measures to protect information.
10. Your rights
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy
- have inaccurate data corrected, and request deletion ("right to be forgotten")
- restrict or object to processing, including processing based on legitimate interests
- data portability
- withdraw consent at any time (Settings → Privacy Options)
- lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the EU, see the list of EU authorities. In the UK, contact the ICO.
For data processed by Google, you can also use Google's privacy controls. To exercise your rights with us, email us. We aim to respond within one month, subject to applicable law and permitted extensions.
Depending on your state of residence, US privacy laws may provide rights to access or delete certain information and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information to data brokers; however, advertising partners may process identifiers and ad interaction information for advertising, which may qualify as “sharing” or targeted advertising under some laws. To ask about your rights or available choices, contact us using the email below and review the advertising controls in section 4.
11. Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, such as 16 in some EU countries). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the App, contact us and we will help remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or services. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are significant, we will notify you in the App or on our Google Play listing.
